JavaBeans are components written in Java. You could compare them with ActiveX components. Javabeans exchange messages through the IIOP protocol, which will be integrated into the official Corba spec. –MatthijsVanKempen
As a matter of fact, JavaBeans can exchange messages through other protocols as well. Those could easily be: JRMP, SOAP, HTTP, ... –Emilio Francesquini
