David Faught November 16, 2004 The ZoomNavigator in Croquet looks kind of similar to the ZUI things that are being explored at http://www.cs.umd.edu/hcil/piccolo/, or http://www.cs.umd.edu/hcil/fisheyemenu/. Are there any thoughts of developing the ZoomNavigator into a more widespread menu system for Croquet? Or Tweak? Or Squeak? This kind of navigation has some advantages over other hierarchical menu systems, although for my 2 cents worth, removing the hierarchy and using one long list is more worthwhile, as in the second link above. Although how does categorization play into this?
What is commonly referred to as a Zooming User Interface, like the cool example at http://humane.sourceforge.net/the/zoom.html or Pad++ or Piccolo below, is not what I have in mind. What I am thinking of is like the FishEyeMenu referred to above.
