ECOOP2000
Last updated at 7:52 pm UTC on 10 January 2003

Alan gave a wonderful presentation using Squeak. Maybe it was particularly amazing for me because I have never seen an expert demo of Squeak. All sorts of stuff suddenly fit into place and made more sense. (I believe Alan was literally the only person at ECOOP to not present using Powerpoint. Everything was done from a Squeak image).

It would be wonderful if somebody would videotape the next demo and make the result widely available. A simple video would not be so clean and nice as a demo that runs automatically in Squeak, but it could be fun, help people understand the context of some of the work done on the Squeak core, and a video of a demo performance might somewhat reduce content IP concerns.

Maybe you wanna see the video about Alans presentation at the EDUCOM conference. It includes the Squeak car demo.

Alan is expertly drawing a red car (as seen from above, and before the tires have been added). The car later had troubles staying on the road while driving around.
