Hi there,

my full name (including my birth names) is: Reinier Lambertus Johannes Martinus Wilhelmus van Loon. Even for Dutch people this is long. Anyway, the short version is simply Reinier.

I run my own company (since May 1, 1998) called 2share. I use Smalltalk mainly for verifying business models which are then quickly made accessible to the end-users by adding a UI to it. This is all done using Visual Smalltalk Enterprise. I have been using Smalltalk for more than 7 years now.

I am completely convinced that Smalltalk is the only way to express thoughts at a high level and have them tested. I very much like the resemblance to natural language.

I am interested in ways for specifying models in real world terms, although I don't mind writing some technical classes myself, just to keep the balance. The class libraries I've seen in the various Smalltalk-dialects are all very technical. E.g. you won't find anything like Company, Department, Organisation, Product, and so on.

I was very happy to see the Squeak initiative and will support it in every way I can. I just hope we can keep a clean base image and add sets of classes as wanted. I really like the SLL approach of VSE. And maybe we can establish an MVC version of Squeak itself (i.e. an image with only base classes (the model) to which we can attach a user interface).

Furthermore, I am equipped with 2 W95 machines, 4 WIN98, 1 NT server an AS/400 and I have access to an RS6000 with AIX.

Well, that's all for now. (April 1999)
